“Without your functional integration work on me, it would have been difficult to do the activities I love … like alpine skiing, tennis, x-country skiing and golf. We need more people like you out there to spread the good news of new methods of effective physical therapy.” – H.M. Stephenson, MD, FRCP (C)
Your ‘Perfect’ Posture

Better Life Studios
The traditional idea of “good posture” is to stand up straight with one’s chest out, shoulders back and stomach pulled in. But this rigid postural stance can lead to many health issues such as bad backs, poor breathing and compromised balance. Ultimately standing up straight is only good for standing up straight.
We are constantly in motion – walking, reaching, turning, bending over, standing up – even now as you are sitting reading this. So posture is not a static experience. The Feldenkrais Method views posture as dynamic, reflecting how the body rests, organizes itself, and moves from one position to another, moment by moment, throughout the day. It is such a unique perspective Moshe Feldenkrais even coined a new word. He called it acture: the ability to move in any direction without strain, pain or preparation.
Imagine being able to CHOOSE the posture needed in any situation – to easily crouch down to play with a child, bend over your guitar and still dance on stage, get up from your desk without an ache in your back, or follow though on your tennis swing without falling on the court.
Neuroscience research has proven the brain can grow, change, reorganize and rewire itself. This neuroplasticity creates new pathways for adaptation and healing and prunes ineffective movement patterns and habits.
Using Awareness Through Movement lessons, discussion and demonstration, you will observe and sense your unique posture, and explore movements to improve the quality, ease and comfort of your posture, sitting, standing or walking.
In this guided Feldenkrais workshop you will learn how to:
- Discover greater body awareness
- Reorganize postural habits and movement patterns
- Learn how balance plays a crucial role in maintaining ‘good’ posture
- Relieve pain and enhance
- Realize greater comfort and mobility sitting, standing and walking
